Alessandra Barroso is an experienced psychoanalyst and licensed mental health counselor with over two decades dedicated to clinical psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and teaching. She is a certified member of the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA) and holds licensure as both a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the United States and a Clinical Psychologist in Brazil.

Alessandra earned her M.S. in Mental Health Counseling Psychology with honors from Northeastern University and holds dual bachelor’s degrees in psychology from UMass Boston and the Federal University of Ceará. She is fluent in both Portuguese and English.

​Alessandra brings genuine warmth, curiosity, and deep clinical insight to her work with children, adolescents, and adults facing a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges. She has extensive experience working with individuals experiencing mood disorders, anger issues, anxiety, ADHD, life challenges, and other relational and behavioral difficulties, helping them gain clearer self-understanding and discover healthier ways to cope and grow.

 

She is also highly trained and deeply experienced in working with trauma and its complex impact on individuals and families. Alessandra is committed to providing a safe, compassionate space where individuals can process their experiences, understand the roots of their suffering, and move toward lasting emotional healing and resilience.

 

Beyond her clinical work, Alessandra is passionate about sharing knowledge and fostering dialogue within the mental health and psychoanalytic community. She is a faculty member at the Florida Psychoanalytic Center, where she also serves on the curriculum committee. She has published and presented her work nationally and internationally and is an active member of several esteemed organizations, including the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA), the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsA), and the Florida Psychoanalytic Center.

Whether working with patients, students, or colleagues, Alessandra is known for her empathy and dedication to the transformative power of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. Her path has been guided by a profound commitment to understanding the human mind, the impact on life experiences, and the unconscious processes that shape our inner world, sense of self, and relationships. She believes this self-awareness can lead to profound and enduring transformation in one’s life.
